ELITE Athlete | Lenny Aki Redrose
Lenny Redrose was diagnosed with spinal cord tumour and after an unsuccessful surgery was left a paraplegic at T4 level. Lenny walked in to hospital and was expected to walk out 4 days later. 5 months later Lenny wheeled out a different person.
Lenny has been in a wheelchair for the past 24 months.
Prior to the wheelchair Lenny served full-time in the Australian Army as a Private Soldier. Not only was he faced with a physical and emotional battle, but in this new phase of his life he has had to come to terms that for 31 years of being an able bodied person is no longer. His chronic neuropathic pains play a big contribution to his daily struggles.
In May 2018, Lenny was signed for the St Kilda Football Club in AFL Wheelchair. And 7 months on, his aspiration to reach new goals have been sublime. On Saturday 8th December, he will be competing in his first ever SPARTAN Race at Yarra Park, MCG.
A big set back for Lenny was losing his business and income due to being in hospital for 5 months. With this campaign we are hoping to raise funds for a brand new off-road racing wheelchair for his SPARTAN Race, and to help give Lenny the opportunity to progress in life.
All funds raised in attending our ELITE TRAINING CLUB Bootcamp this Saturday 8th December @ 7am will be contributed to Lenny's cause. We will be presenting him with his new wheelchair at approximately 8am - followed by his SPARTAN Race at 12:20pm @ Yarra Park, MCG.
