Lemons to Lemonade

Donation protected
To contribute to the fundraiser and to stand against this rally of White supremacy, we are urging the community to pledge an incentivized sum per each hate band that performs. By this, we mean one pledging $1 for every one of the six bands playing, equating out to $6 in total, or we mean pledging $2 for every one of the six bands playing, equating to $12 in total.

By donating in this way, we create a direct correlation between these groups’ hate and intolerance & our overall support and strength as a community of diversity and inclusion. By donating in this way, in other words, we make the White supremacists' lemons to our lemonade.

All funds will help to support Boise State University’s Inclusive Excellence Student Council, Boise State University’s Afro-Black Student Alliance, Boise State University’s Intertribal Native Council, and Boise State University’s Organización de Estudiantes Latino-Americanos.

Background information/event information:

Tracing a long, explicit narrative of hate in Idaho, a White supremacist group is gathering in the local Boise area on September 30th. The group is congregating in intolerance for a concert showcasing six bands at an undisclosed location and an undisclosed time, celebrating racism and the oppression of people of color.

As a community that embraces and celebrates excellence & inclusion, however, we choose not to let their hate and misguidedness go unanswered. Instead, we plan to recognize this event through “Lemons to Lemonade,” a peaceful protest and fundraiser, rather than recognzing this through physical counter-protests at the supremacists' event.

With “Lemons to Lemonade,” we are ensuring safety for the community. Beyond that, though, we are also promoting an event which will benefit local groups of cohesion and diversity.

At our counterprotest at the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, information & resource booths, live music, and three speakers will highlight the “Lemons to Lemonade” event. GoFundMe donations will showcase the agenda of the evening.

"Lemons to Lemonade" will take place September 30th (the day of the White supremacists' gathering), and the event will go on from 11:15AM to 12:15PM. Live music played by Afrosonics and information booths will begin the event, and at 11:45AM, speakers will address the community’s overall relationship with Boise’s White supremacist groups.

The ACLU, NAACP, community organizers, and Boise State student groups will fill the resource booths as Afrosonics performs!

Dan Prinzing, Ph.D, Senator Cherie Buckner-Webb, and Phillip Thompson of the Black History Museum will speak at the event.

The event is being coordinated by the Idaho Black History Museum.

Donations will be accepted leading up to the event, as well as throughout the duration of the event.

Please allow these White supremacists to fuel our progress and unity in Boise.
