LEJOG Tridem World Record attempt

3 Seats ....3 Causes....1 Bike.....
The challenge is to cycle 1000 miles, from Lands End to John O’Groats, on a tridem; a three-seater bike!
Rob Mayor, with daughters Rachel and Alex, will be setting off on the 13th of April 2019 and they hope to complete the distance in 14 days and set a new world record. The hope of raising much needed funds, for three causes close to their hearts, will motivate the team in training over the cold winter months.
Seat 1 - Steve Prescott Foundation, which continues to raise money in Steve’s honour to support The Christie Cancer Hospital and Try Assist, which aims to help players whose lives have been affected by serious injuries.
Seat 2 - Steve White’s battle with Glioblastoma
On the 23rd July 2016, a good friend, a 43 year old father of 2 young boys, was diagnosed with the brain cancer Glioblastoma; the worst type.
Steve is a trustee of the Steve Prescott Foundation and took part in many of the foundation’s challenges; helping to raise thousands of pounds. He now faces the biggest challenge of his life fighting this brain cancer. Steve has had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and is now undergoing immunotherapy treatment. This treatment is only available privately and could cost upwards of £100,000.
Seat 3 - AMMF – The Cholangiocarcinoma Charity
After battling a deadly, rare cancer called cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and been given just 6 weeks to live, Andrea Sheardown (parent of a Sandbach RUFC under 8s’ player), survived against the odds and is still here 2 1/2 years later! Andrea’s continuing mission is to raise much needed funds for the only UK charity which supports critical research into this deadly cancer.
Please give the team a wave if you see them cycling around Cheshire and beyond and, if you could donate a little, it would help enormously. ALL COSTS for the trip are being paid by the riders themselves so 100% of the monies raised with be split between the three causes.
(It’s no coincidence that the picture shows a banner for “Teamwork” as, the pedals being locked together, the three have to have total trust in one another to ride the bike!)
