Help Leicester Community Music School renovate and open a storefront location!
Leicester Community Music School is a small nonprofit organization located in Leicester, MA. LCMS was founded in 2013 by the Leicester Town Band, Inc. to provide affordable music lessons of the highest quality to the residents of Leicester, MA and the surrounding area. LCMS is currently renovating a storefront location, and we need your help! Please consider donating and sharing our campaign today!
LCMS has been operating out of the local high school, where two small practice rooms were generously made available to us after school, since 2014. However, we quickly began to outgrow the space. Since Spring 2015 we have had 30 or more students registered with LCMS. In order to continue to grow, we need to find a location of our own.
We have secured a storefront location at 880 Pleasant St. in Rochdale, MA. Our plan is to build four lesson studios and outfit the space with soundproofing material so as not to disturb the other businesses in the building. The original price estimate for this project is roughly $15,000. We hope to be moved into the new location by the end of 2016, at which time our name will be changing to "Leicester School of Music".
Most LCMS students receive a partial discount on the cost of their lessons. Our goal is to begin accepting students on full or partial scholarship by 2017. In order to do this, we need to have at least 40 students enrolled. Moving into our own space will make this possible by allowing us to have 4 lessons at one time while increasing our hours of operation.
If we exceed our goal, all additional funds will be put towards operating costs and/or covering lesson costs for scholarship students. As a nonprofit, our goal is always to provide lessons at the lowest price possible. With our current numbers, we can cover the operating costs at our new space, but it would be many years before we could afford this renovation on our own. With your help, we can be settled into the new location and accepting new students by next summer! Please consider donating today!
