Legal Help for New Orleans

Donation protected
Did you know that the majority of the people who need legal help are people who can't pay for it? Student Legal Relief is a student group at the University of Illinois College of Law that provides free legal aid to these people - the most vulnerable in society. By doing this, we help public interest and government organizations provide more services to more people in need.

This January, Student Legal Relief will be taking more than 60 law students to New Orleans, Louisiana to provide a full week of free legal help to over 10 organizations in the area.  With a poverty rate more than twice the national average, a murder rate higher than Baltimore and Chicago, and a court system that is notoriously backed up, New Orleans needs our help.

But we can't provide help without your help. Because most of us are living on loans and scholarships while paying for law school, we rely on fundraising and donations to cover our travel and accommodation costs. Any amount you donate would be greatly appreciated both by us, and by the people to whom we provide life-changing services.
