Legal Defense Fund for Fr. Phillips

$19,295 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 181 people in 11 months
Help us raise necessary funds to support Fr. Frank Phillips, CR, of St. John Cantius Church  in Chicago, Illinois.

We believe Fr. Phillips to be a man of impeccable character, whose good name and reputation are worthy of our support and defense.  His epic accomplishments for the parish of St. John Cantius, the Canons Regular  (which he founded) and for all of Catholicism worldwide are legendary, and include preserving St. John Cantius Church from the wrecking ball, restoration of the Latin Mass, promotion of Sacred Music (including Gregorian Chant), and development of Catholic art & culture.

Many souls have no doubt been saved because of his tireless efforts to restore the sacred at St. John Cantius.

Our goal is to assist Fr. Phillips in returning as soon as possible to his much deserved role as beloved Pastor of St. John Cantius, and to the rank of Superior of the Canons Regular, which was founded under his leadership.

All funds will be used specifically by Fr. Phillips himself to pay his legal and attorney expenses and other personal living costs associated with being vindicated of accusations of improper behavior which are deemed likely to be false by his many peers, friends and parishioners.

Fr. Phillips will receive all funds collected in connection with this campaign, less the small fees collected by GoFundMe.  On a periodic basis, I will transfer funds  electronically from GoFundMe to a bank account which I have set up to be used exclusively to issue cashier's checks or wire transfers directly to Fr. Phillips (or his attorney) as he directs, for his immediate and exclusive use in connection with the purposes described herein.

Thank you in advance for your generous support of this campaign.  Please know in your heart that your support will be most appreciated by Fr. Frank Phillips, whose loving care of our parish has been manifest for 30 years.

Dear contributors and visitors,

As promised, I am writing to post an update with photos for the 2018 Christmas Celebration of Our Lord's Incarnation at St. John Cantius Church.

I'm posting three (3) of my favorite photos. One of these is a rare photo taken from the top of the Choir Loft. The entire photo album can be viewed here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/canons-regular/albums/72157678053143768

Blessings to everyone for a successful 2019.

Kindest regards,

Dear generous contributors and visitors,

Christmas at St. John Cantius Church in Chicago is a truly special celebration of the birth of Jesus over two-thousand years ago. Please enjoy a few recent photos below of Christmas-past at SJC. I will post new ones for 2018 shortly.

I plan to be present at Midnight Mass and will look with joy and wonderment to welcome our Savior at His Incarnation. If you are in Chicago, please join us for this beautiful feast of the birth of Our Lord.

Let me take a moment to personally thank each of our kind and generous donors as this year draws to a close. While it has been an especially difficult time for dear Fr. Phillips, it seems that Almighty God has blessed him greatly via this campaign to support his legal and temporal needs. I give great thanks for everyone who has helped us to date. Let us continue to remember Fr. Phillips in prayer and in Mass intentions.

Blessings and joy to all for Christmas 2018.

Most sincerely,

James Michael Francis Komaniecki

Dear friends and contributors,

I offer my apologies for not posting updates recently. The metastatic prostate cancer IV diagnosis which I'm suffering with has recently put me in the hospital with severe pain. Since then I am receiving a new (but expensive) treatment which is holding the cancer at bay for now. I'm blessed to have the prayers of many fine friends fortunately.

I'm writing to share some new photos of the November All Souls Requiem Mass at St. John Cantius Church in Chicago.

Much thanks and appreciation to everyone helping us to raise funds to help Fr. Phillips.

Blessings,

James Michael Francis Komaniecki

Dear contributors and friends,

I've been away from my desk for over ten (10) days for much-needed spinal surgery to correct a very painful herniated disc in my lower back. The back problem had complicated my health picture that was already quite troublesome due to metastatic cancer. Doctors were divided over the cause of the pain. But I'm now recovering nicely after having the disc decompressed in a minimally-invasive procedure.

I'm very happy to be returned to my post, ready to continue to help our dear Fr. Phillips.

Blessings to all of our very generous contributors, and especially to those heroic Catholic leaders who continue to make incredible sacrifices for Fr. Phillips.

I'm checking with Fr. Phillips to see when we will have photos of his Mass in St. Louis, and the promised relic cards of St. John Cantius for all of our contributors.

Posted below are some additional photos to appreciate at this time.

Most sincerely,

James Michael Francis Komaniecki
