Go Fund Me and Fall Festival to Benefit Brevard’s Special Olympian

Sandy is 63 and contracted polio at a young age which left her with both legs in braces up to her hips. Growing up, Sandy joyfully served as her sister’s concierge, a little like Cinderella, helping her become an accomplished rider and pageant winner.  She never complained but deep in her heart she had dreams of someday riding a horse of her own and showing.

When Sandy came to Walk on Water she had been released from another program that informed her they couldn't do anything else for her.  That was over a year ago.  Sandy has been riding with us and progressing steadily as an independent rider braces and all.  When WOW was chosen to be a registered training program for Special Olympics Florida-Brevard County Equestrian Team, Sandy came up to us with tears in her eyes and told us her story and said this has been her dream of hers for a long time and asked if she could be a a part of the team. She began training with the free program in September of 2017.  She competed at county-level competition and received 2nd place in Trail and 1st place in Equitation.  At area competition she received a second and a third in both, and in State competition, she received GOLD in both classes. The joy that she and WOW experienced in her accomplishments are beyond measure. She is a true champion, her dreams realized.

Now its time to help Sandy in a different way and we all can help.  You see Sandy’s braces help her walk and if not for them she would be in a wheelchair.  Her wonderful husband Mike has repaired them over the years many times but now they are unusable.

Insurance will not pay for the $5000 cost and will only provide a wheelchair.

Sandy is too much of a fighter to sit for the rest of her life.  She now wants to help coach our younger Special Olympians-pay it forward. Walk on Water is trying to raise $5000 to help cover the cost of braces for Sandy along with Hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 13th  from 3-7.  We are located at 3330 Perkinson Lane, Merritt Island,FL. The festival will include food, pony rides, hay rides, games, face painting and a petting zoo.  Please join us for an afternoon of fun for the whole family and share in a good cause for this Brevard County champion.

Please Give if you cannot attend by using this GOFUNDME account and thank you so much for helping Sandy-all proceeds go towards Sandy's braces.  We are a 501c3 and can provide a receipt upon request for donations.  Thank you so much:)
