Le Cat Café enhancements
Le Cat Café is in need of your support and help.
We have been rescuing cats for the past 13 years under the Non-profit, Green Street Rescue, and in March 2016 we opened our new adoption platform, Le Cat Café at 2713 W. Girard Avenue in Philadelphia. The space and idea to help rescued cats find homes has been working out great and the “rags to riches” stories are numerous.
Last year GSR rescued 411 cats and adopted out 198, 52 thanks to Le Cat Café. This year’s rescue numbers look to be even bigger and with the popularity of the café we hope dozens more can find homes quickly.
Until now we have been fortunate enough to survive on our loan from the bank, donations, adoption fees and the visit fees at the café. But is it is not enough to make ends meet with medical situations and emergencies costing in the thousands, food and litter supply costs, rent, insurance and taxes at the café, overhead and needed repairs and improvements at the café.
Here is where you come in.
The cement basement floor at le Cat Café is cracked, uneven, crumbling and porous. It soaks up moisture and odors and continues to break down. It is causing a health issue for our volunteers and the cats. It and the cement walls, need to be sealed off and painted. It is a job that will take more than one day and require the re-location of the 12 rescues until complete.
We also have additional new structures and features to add to the café on the main floor to keep our cats exercised and curious. There will be bridges crossing over head just below the ceiling, tunnels to explore and tall scratching posts to climb and cubby holes to hide in. Ideas to keep the cats and daily visitors entertained and provide the best photo opps !
Your donations will improve their stay at Le Cat Café and make it fun and creative for both two-leggers and four-legggers. It will help to generate adoptions and that gives us more room to take in another rescue from the streets who is homeless and suffering. It will improve the last step before adoption , of their rags to riches tail. Help us help the cats who are suffering on the streets through no fault of their own.
Donations of any size are APURR-ericaited!
