I am Aaron Carey an Akron, OH native and an avid Lebron James supporter. My goal is to raise capital to place a statue of King James in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

I was fortunate to have an older brother who played on Dru Joyce’s AAU ( NEO Shooting Stars) team with LeBron. Growing up, I watched him at practice, in games at St. Vincent St. Mary’s, and I was able to experience him enter the league first hand. His career, dedication, and love for the sport encouraged me to play at St. Vincent St. Mary's , where I was a part of two boys Basketball State Championship Teams (2009, 2011). After high school, I attended The Ohio State University on a full academic scholarship and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in 2017.

I can't help but be inspired by all of the great things LeBron has accomplished on and off the basketball court. As a nonprofit co-founder myself, seeing the growth and impact of The LeBron James Foundation has been impeccable. When I was a kid, I would volunteer at the LeBron James Bike-A-Thon which evolved into the “I Promise” program. Since then, his initiative has grown from giving out hundreds of bikes to kids, to building mentoring programs, youth development, support of college athletes, and starting his own elementary and secondary schools. In 2021, over 1,200 children will receive a full scholarship to The University of Akron should they complete the I Promise program.

LeBron James is the King and we need a movement in North East Ohio and throughout the world to show our gratitude and appreciation for all of the love, passion, hard work and effort King James has shown us.  LeBron has been the most unifying force to revitalize downtown Cleveland, bringing the Cavaliers their first NBA championship. As true fans, we believe it is time we show our appreciation by placing a statue in his beloved hometown of Akron, Ohio. LeBron James has carried the basketball world on an amazing journey at the highest levels of success.  He is big enough to entertain the world, but humble enough to compassionately give back. We are all in this together and we want your support no matter how small or large, to show our appreciation to LeBron James.

I partnered with one of my mentors and Cleveland-native Dr. Corttrell Kinney to help spearhead this project. Dr. Kinney started the Corttrell Scholarship Fund through the Cleveland Scholarship Program. While serving on the board, Dr. Kinney also writes grants and mentors many students at The Ted Ginn Academy located in Cleveland. He has helped in the development of numerous small businesses and non-profit organizations. A graduate of John Hay High School, Kinney holds a bachelors in biology from Morehouse College as well as a doctorate in physiology and biophysics from Case Western Reserve University and through the department of Cell Biology at The Cleveland Clinic. He is a Bill and Melinda Gates Scholar who specializes in sports, international businesses, international relations throughout Africa, Asia, and Middle East. Dr. Kinney is a long time supporter of LeBron James and his work off the court.

We sought out the help of the renowned sculptor, Omri Amrany, who is credited for doing the  iconic Michael Jordan Statue, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar among many other notable athletes and influential public figures.  Omri loved the idea of doing a statue in Ohio for LeBron. We’ve included the first rendering of the statue by Mr. Amrany in this campaign.

We are all witnesses of LeBron’s greatness as the best basketball player on the court and in his community as he said, “I Promise,” and delivered on his word with mentoring programs, youth development, support of college athletes, and starting his own school. Now we can give something back to cement his form and structure in history.

So I am asking you to join me -- just another kid from Akron -- and our team in honoring a man who I completely admire. Let’s pay homage to the one and only King James by building the Omri-designed LeBron James Statue.

1. Raise $1,000,000 to get the statue completed in honor of LeBron James and his contribution to basketball, his hometown of Akron, his family and his community.

*As part of this goal the first 15 donors of $30,000 or more will receive a limited edition miniature replica of the statue signed by Omri.

- 5 miniature replica statues will be auctioned off the the highest bidder. There will only be 25 made and distributed across the world.

2. Host an Official unvieling of the LeBron James Statue
