"...doctors who have devoted their lives to research and treatment compare chronic Lyme disease to A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and multiple sclerosis."
-Stephen Holden, The New York Times

Chronic Lyme Disease Can Be Cured.

Lyme Literate Medical Doctors (LLMD) are not in-network with any of the major insurance companies, resulting in patients being obligated to pay for all Lyme Disease Treatment upfront, requiring significant amounts of financial resources.

For nearly 40 years Laurie Herber has lived with symptoms of chronic Lyme disease and the co-occurring diseases Babesiosis and Bartonellosis. Since early childhood  doctors and specialists have aided Laurie and her family in their search to gain an accurate diagnosis for her long-suffering body. Her current team of doctors believe she was first infected from tick bites in 1979 and 1980 while camping in a Lyme disease endemic area of British Columbia. Laurie was 4 and 5 years old when she was repeatedly exposed to the endemic of Western black-legged ticks on the Browns River, Vancouver Island. During those years no warnings about the endemic were disseminated to the public. Most humans are infected with Lyme disease and its vector-borne co-infections from bites by immature ticks which are tiny and very difficult to see (less than 2mm).

Laurie was born with only one kidney and one adrenal gland. Her case of chronic Lyme disease and co-infections is extremely complex. The infections are multisystemic – effecting all the main systems of her body.

Laurie's Team Of Doctors Is Headed By ILADS Leadership.

"ILADS members have treated tens of thousands of patients with Lyme and associated tick-borne diseases in the US and across the globe. Based on the collective work of its members, ILADS has a wealth of clinical expertise in treating complex and advanced cases of Lyme disease."

As of February 2018, treatment guidelines established by the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) are the guidelines available at the National Guideline Clearinghouse, under the umbrella of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

In February 2019, Laurie will celebrate her 45th birthday.
