On February 3, 2015, I took my final sip of alcohol. The next morning, I started blogging about my descent into alcoholism, my attempts to get and stay sober, and my journey to recover from addiction.
Now, nearly three years sober and recoverng more every single day, I continue to tell my story. A lot of people are listening. Never could I have imagined the response my voice would receive.
When I first got sober, I didn't know anyone like me. Today, I hear from multiple women every week -- they ask me how I got sober, whether I can help them, what they should do if they want to stop drinking, how to handle conflict with their spouses, what to tell their children, whether or not they should go to rehab, etc. While I listen to their stories and share my own personal experience and tell them about all the tools in my sobriety toolbox, I don't have the proper credentials to truly counsel them, to coach and support them as they begin their own recovery from addiction.
As 2018 began, suddenly it hit me. I am being called to do something incredible. Something huge. Something about which I am more passionate than anything else. I am being called to be of tremendous service to women fighting the same battle I have fought and won (and sometimes continue to fight).
So, I have decided to embark upon a career change, to become a certified addiction recovery coach. The only thing standing between me and a 100-hour online course is the tuition payment.
