Laura's Multiple Surgical Recovery
First and foremost, I wanted to thank everyone who has contributed to my Go Fund Me. Nic and I have been blown away by everyone's generosity and we are so incredibly grateful!
I wanted to give everyone a much needed update!
I returned home just before Christmas, after a month in the hospital. It was recommended I go to a Skilled Nursing Facility, but I declined and went home to around the clock assistance. I was non-weight bearing on all four limbs for 7 weeks. Nic, his family, and countless friends/therapists were wonderful during that difficult time, and continue to be.
After I was allowed to bear weight on my arms and one leg, I had a revision surgery on my pelvis. Directly from there I asked to be sent to an in-patient rehabilitation hospital.
I spent 3 weeks learning how to stand, walk, dress myself, and practice every day living activities at Casa Colina Rehab Hospital in Pomona.
Since then, I've had revision surgery to remove hardware in my right femur as well as removing screws in my right shoulder. Going forward, I will have hand/thumb surgery in several months, as well as additional revisions in my hands, wrists and legs.
I've also been seeing a Neuro ophthalmologist due to vision issues in my left eye.
I am continuing outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy weekly to build my strength and endurance. I continue to stay very busy with numerous medical appointments.
While I am not able to return to work at this time, I get a bit stronger every day, and enjoy an ever-increasing role in the day to day activities of my family.
Whether it be monetary, culinary, thoughts and prayers, or countless other ways, Nic and I are eternally thankful to each and every one of you for everything you have done for our family.
Hey there Sweetie! So happy to hear all the good news of your recovery! Kent and I continue to pray for you every night. My heart is warmed by your enduring spirit and positive attitude! All my love- Jane
