Our beloved friend Laura Mattingly, 36, mother of 8 yr old Indigo Louella, poet, grad student, local barber, Reiki Master/Teacher, loud laugh cackler, kitchen wall muralist, and compassionate helper to many of us over the years, has recently been diagnosed with Invasive Ductile Carcinoma (breast cancer) in her right breast and lymph nodes.
A tentative treatment plan has been recommended by her oncologist at Ochsner Breast Center (as of 4/8/19). Test results do not show signs of the cancer spreading any further (!!!), therefore, she is set up for a 9 month treatment plan that begins on April 23rd. Treatment will include: chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, & endocrine therapy.

Given this treatment update, we ask supporters to continue to share this campaign within their networks! 9 months is a LONG treatment plan! Lets make sure Laura and Indigo are set up during this time!
Laura's medical treatment is fully covered (as far as we know! Phew! And we are so grateful for that!) However, Laura will not be able to work for the duration of her treatment and recovery period. We are fundraising to help Laura and Indigo cover housing expenses, monthly bills, daily expenses, as well as an herbal support program, and other complementary alternative health methods, during and after her treatment.
As soon as we have more details, we will begin assembling care teams for sustained support, including more fundraising opportunities, grocery shopping & drop-off rotation, etc...
We will keep this campaign and other social media updated as we receive more news about her treatment plan.
In the mean time, we ask that you donate some $$ and share this campaign within your networks. Every little bit counts! Let's all pitch in and make sure that financial worries are not a concern for Laura and her daughter during her treatment and recovery from breast cancer!
Laura Mattingly wears many hats, and is a friend to many. She is/has been our bartender, confidant, emergency contact, kitchen haircut specialist, dance partner, Lady Fest Literary Reading Series coordinator, Reiki practitioner/teacher, author of the "Book of Incorporation" (Language Foundry), patron of all her friend's art, cheerleader, partner-in-crime, and support system. In short, Laura gives and gives, and continues to show up for her community. Let's show up BIG TIME for her right now!
