Hello there, we are Guilherme and Sara, a couple who wants to change the world perspective about new protein sources.
In 2016 we were challenged in Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto to develop an insect-based product, we developed an insect protein bar!
After we finished our graduation we started our journey in our garage where we began to rear what we believe to be the future of human consumption.
We started to rear insects, more specific mealworms.
We know.. it's kinda messy thinking that we will eat insects right? But if we look closely to the sustainability of the protein industry, we can see that we will need to change our food habits and find new ways of eating animal protein.
In the way to change the way we look into insects, we started developing products with insects powder with the goal of changing people perspective of what insects really are.
At this moment we are building our brand - Portugal Bugs, and starting to develop our own packaging but we are almost running out of funds because the current legislation doesn't allow us to sell our amazing products in the market.
We are asking for your help, to allow us to invest once more in our dreams and what we envision that will be not only our future but also yours.
This support will push us forward to this new market in Portugal.
