Larry Ballard's Support Fund

On December 4th Dad (Larry) was in California for work and while driving he called Mom (Cheryl) and he expressed he was loosing his vision in his right eye and couldn't move his legs. They quickly decided to contact emergency services but couldn't give his current location. Emergency responders found him in about an hour and took him to the nearest emergency center. Dad had experienced a massive stroke affecting the right hemisphere.  They administered TPA (a blood thinner) to limit stroke complications.  He happened to be in the 6% of patients that have adverse reactions. This caused major bleeding and swelling in his brain  After assessing the trauma, the hospital decided that they weren't equipped with a neurosurgeon that Dad's stroke would require. They transported him to Eden Medical Center to the Comprehensive Stroke Care Unit. They performed a craniotomy, removing part of his skull to release the pressure and swelling. He is now in ICU in critical condition.  The neurologists have hope that he can rehabilitate to a quality of life where he can continue living with his wife of 32 years, his 4 children, and 11 grandchildren. As you can imagine being from Texas and Oklahoma, there are extraordinary logistical challenges for family to be here in California to help support him. There will be multiple financial challenges such as, medial bills, hotel stays for family, transportation, food, as well as maintaining their household back in Texas.  Without Larry's income and Cheryl's presence required in California there are many hurdles. Please consider any amount towards supporting the long journey Larry and his family have ahead of them.
