Larriane's Recovery Fund - Support the Astete's

On the 8th of February, Larriane was rushed to the emergency room after being found unresponsive in bed by her parents. Previous signs of a cold were actually the result of a severe infection, rapidly spreading to her lungs, heart, and kidneys. Larriane was immediately put on a broad spectrum of antibiotics to cover all bases. Shortly after, it was apparent that she would require emergency surgery along with countless procedures under the assistance of life support. Unfortunately, before surgery Larriane's heart stopped and needed to be resuscitated in the operating room. We are fortunate to say that her surgery had been successful in implanting a catheter to reach her heart and kidneys. The doctors have performed MRI's and other tests but it is unknown how severe her brain has been damaged, as we are awaiting results. 

She is a daughter, a friend, a student, a violinist, a fighter, and a clown. She is the spark in the family that can make us laugh, in good and bad times, with a smile that can melt hearts.
Her spontaneity and fearlessness is the catalyst that opens our minds and challenges all of us to new experiences. She is so many great things to us on the outside but most importantly she is loved.

Our ultimate goal is to raise enough money to cover medical costs and provide relief for the Astete family.  This includes the cost of two completed surgeries, a multitude of treatments/tests, and her time spent in the surgical intensive care unit. Two days have passed, but we expect Larriane to remain at the hospital for potentially one week.

Larriane is the strongest, most resilient girl you'll ever meet. We are hopeful for a speedy recovery but there is no doubt that the shocking news has taken a toll on her family. Any gesture of support (whether it's a dollar or helping raise awareness) will aid Larriane and her family in the ongoing fight against this infection.
