Laptop For SCAD Illustration Major!

Beginning in September I'll be attending SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) . After going to SCAD twice once for SCAD Day and the second for Summer Swarm. I was told to firstly get a laptop that you're comfortable with and afterwards you would be told which tablet, and what softwares to use/install for further work.
Originally I was planning to major in Sequential Arts but after discussions with students during Summer Swarm I've decided to make Sequential Arts & Animation my minors while majoring in Illustration.
And so for these minors/major I've decided to go for a MacBook Air. I am truly hoping I can get these donations and be able to buy this laptop.
