Lamb of God's 2nd Chance Fund

Donation protected

"Lamb of God" is a small-breed mixed female dog that has been horribly utilized as a prop by a panhandler in the Dallas entertainment districts for many months.

Numerous people have witnessed the abuse the dog has suffered and have called Dallas Animal Services (DAS), 311, and 911 for months in an attempt to get the dog removed from her abuser and into a rescue group or sanctuary so that she can have the love and care she needs and deserves.

DAS has had custody of Lamb numerous times and each time has returned her into the hands of her abuser. Sources within DAS have shared that Lamb is a very sweet-tempered, docile dog when she is in the shelter and away from her abuser.

Recently, Lamb bit a child who came too close to her while she was being roughly handeled by the panhandler. DAS moved forward with taking custody of the dog and went to Municipal Court #11 to request that she be deemed a "dangerous dog" and an order was issued on November 20 for her to be "destroyed".

Community advocates, residents, business owners, and all around great people, immediately rallied to work to get Lamb a second chance at a fresh beginning.

An emergency hearing was heard the morning of Thursday, November 30 in Court #11 and the euthanization order is on hold until County Criminal Court #2 makes a determination on the "stay of execution" that was filed.

Attorneys, who are working pro-bono and/or taking vacation days to address this situation have said that there may be a need for money for any out of pocket expenses and / or care for the dog.

How we know the beneficiaries: We are part of the team working to ensure the dog, Lamb of God, is allowed to go to a rescue group or sanctuary that helps abused dogs recover from their ordeals.

News coverage of our advocacy work on behalf of Lamb of God can be seen at this link from the Dallas ABC News affiliate WFAA.com .

How we intend to deliver the donations: The initial contributions will be used to assist with Lamb's immediate needs whether they be filing fees or her upkeep and care. Once Lamb is allowed to go to a rescue or sanctuary, the balance of the funds will go to that facility to assist with her care.   Upon receipt of funds from GoFundMe -- less their percentage for handling and processing -- we will be able to utilize these monies.

The funds will be withdrawn by Raine Devries and she will send the funds directly to where they need to go to cover expenses and reimbursements for monies already paid on behalf of helping the dog Lamb of God; remaining monies after expenses will be donated as noted in detail below.

As of 10:00a CST on Wednesday, December 13, more than 145,000 people from around the world have signed this Change.org petition asking for Lamb of God to be given a second chance at living a safe, sane, and loving life way from the abuse.

We are asking that people interested in contributing toward any expenses related to Lamb please do so through this campaign.

**Any possible expenses include:**

- Contribution to off-set the expenses of Lamb's upkeep (food, boarding, medical attention, etc).

- Contribution of the balance of the funds to the rescue group or sanctuary that is allowed to take custody of Lamb.

**IF it is ruled that Lamb must be destroyed, the funds will be utilized in the following way:

- Expenses related to Lamb's cremation and final resting place.

- Any additional funds will be contributed to animal welfare organizations in the Dallas area that work to protect animals from abusers and help them recover from their abuse.
Thank you for your help and please keep all prayers and good mojo focused on Lamb of God being given an opportunity at a safe, sane, and happy second chance at life.

 Thank you!

Raine Devries, Jessica Brodsky, and the Deep Ellum Community Watch group.

NOTE: The funds will be distributed to the rescue and/or sanctuary that the dog Lamb of God is sent to upon the discretion of the Administrator of this fundraising campaign along with any expenses that are confirmed and approved by the Administrator. If, for whatever reasons, the Administrator does not agree and/or approve of the rescue and/or sanctuary or any expenses, the balance of the funds will instead be distributed among Dallas-area charities that address animal welfare, with a special focus on abused dogs, at a time and location of the Administrator's choosing.
