Lake County Sheriff and U.S. Army Veteran needs assistance!!!

Officer Jose Herrera has served with the U.S. Army for 24 years of distinguished service and retired December 2018. He has multiple deployments which include Afghanistan and Cuba. Officer Herrera retired as a Sergeant First Class and has earned the respect and admiration of his soldiers and fellow Sergeants.

Officer Herrera served the citizens of Lake County Illinois since 2002 for over 16yrs.

Unfortunately Officer Herrera was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. Herrera being the man he is, fought the good fight. On January 22, 2019 he was sent home with his family. His wife of over 20 years and his two daughters. Whose ages are 18 and 12. Herrera went back home under Hospice care.

His family is struggling as a result of this situation. Things are in motion but not moving fast enough to help his family.

I have known SFC. Jose Herrera for over 10 years. He is my friend. My brother. He was the type of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Now it’s our turn to help Herrera and his family. To help one of own. To do for him what we hope our brothers and sisters would do for us. If we found ourselves in the same situation.

On behalf of myself and the Herrera family thank you SO much.. God Bless you all and keep you from harm.
