Lacey & Nano Recovery Fund

During the early hours Monday morning, just before 1:30 a.m, Lacey Bird, 22, and Nano Fuentes,16, both of Lodi, were heading back home from their usual fast food run. As they crossed through the intersection of Lodi Ave & Hutchins Street, they were struck abruptly by a careless drunk driver. The suspect vehicle ran a red light at high speeds of 90mph as he struck the victims vehicle, flipping it, causing it to land with all 4 tires in the air, nearly taking both of their young innocent lives. As if hitting an occupied vehicle while intoxicated wasnt bad enough, the driver chose to flee the scene. Although thanks to Lodi PD, he was apprehended a short time after and taken into custody. Fortunately this selfish man was taken off the streets and not able to cause anymore damage. The unfortunate side, these 2 individuals will never be the same again. They both remain in ICU sedated, due to the severity of their injuries, and hooked up to tubes to help stabilize their breathing. Between the two victims they suffer from injured lungs, broken and fractured bones, multiple lacerations, and terrible bruising just to list SOME of their injuries. By no fault of their own, at the young age of 22, Lacey will be out of work for an extended period of time; Nano at 16, an outstanding student, will be out of school by no fault of his own. Their parents will suffer great amounts of stress, financial burdens, emotional pain, and heartache. Worst part of all, there is no gurantee the suspect had insurance or that he'll cover all medical cost.
