Kyle's Eagle Scout Project - Pasture fencing for New Kingdom Trailriders
Hello. My name is Kyle Yeater.
I am a Boy Scout with Troop 425 from Sherrard, Ill., and a junior at Sherrard High School. I am currently a Life Scout working to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. I'm working to raise money to help fund my Eagle project. I will be leading the construction of building a fence at New Kingdom Trailriders (NKT) for their therapeutic horses.
The fence will be about 1,600 feet and will be made out of both wooden posts and steel T posts with high-tensile wire. The fence will start and end on pre-existing fences that will be open to around 8 acres of pasture for horses to eat from and roam. This fence will be very beneficial for NKT who is a nonprofit organization. With this new addition, they will be able to cutback on spending for hay. Not only will it help them cut down on spending but it will also improve the overall health of the horses. It is a proven fact that all-natural fresh grass is healthier than hay that is being fed to them currently. With the horses healthier, they will be able to perform to the best of their ability and enable them to be able to do lessons with their riders. Allowing each rider to build connections with their horses.
NKT services the greater Quad City area and surrounding communicates by empowering children, adults and military veterans facing physical, mental, emotional and social challenges to create active healthier, and more fulfilling lives through equine-assisted activities. To complete this project, I will need to raise nearly $1,300. Monetary donations will purchase materials needed for the project. Materials: concrete mix, brace pin, wood posts 6" x 8', wood posts 4" x 8', steel T posts 6.5 ft., insulators, T post caps, springs, strainers, 12 gauge wire, staples, crimping sleeve.
There is no set amount for how much you need to donate. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Any excess funds raised will be donated to NKT.
