Old Neighborhood Parade Support

Recently, it has come to the attention of many of us who look forward to attending the  Old Neighborhood Parade every year that is is in jeapordy of ending. 

The thought of it being the last year really struck me. As far as I can remember , it was a day to celebrate family , friendship, and community.  It was one of my favorite days of the year  when I was younger. I could pretend I was an Irish dancer at the Hooley at the Valley Center after I marched in the parade representing the Bouquards with my cousins by the dozens. As we all got older and began families of our own, it was a special time we knew our extended family would get together besides at a wake or funeral. We celebrated no matter how tough of a year it was . 

I also had an opportunity to work at the Valley Community Center for 9 years when I was in college and my first few years of teaching. The  help and support the Valley provides for children and families is remarkable. They provide so many services that make so many people’s lives better.

I hope you will consider joining me to help keep the Old Neighborhood Parade alive so all of us can continue to create memories with our families, friends, and community
