Help Kye Kick Cancer's Butt!

Spende geschützt
Kye Peirce is a gorgeous 3 year old boy from Mulwala, NSW. On the 25th August 2018 while staying with family in Melbourne, Kye came down with an infection in his eye that didn't look like anything sinister. Some antihistamines were administered as it didn't look like anything more than an allergic reaction.

After no change in his eye Kye was taken to the local GP first thing on the morning of the 27th of August. The GP could not determine what was wrong with little Kye's eye and told his mum to take him to Wangaratta Hospital to have him checked out by a pediatrician.

The pediatrician concluded he had an infection and ordered an IV of antibiotics and an overnight stay in hospital. During which, some bloods were taken to try and determine the cause of the eye infection. During the course of the day more bloods were taken and in the evening of the 27th the pediatrician announced there was a 95% likelihood Kye has leukemia and quickly told them they will be transferred to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne by the next morning.

The following morning Tina (Kye's mum) and Kye were flown down by air ambulance to the Children's while Adam (Kye's dad) and Kye's 8 week old baby brother, Zayde, drove the 4 hours down from Wangaratta. Kye was quickly met by the RCH oncology team who confirmed a diagnosis of leukemia. A short time later they were admitted into the children's oncology ward.

The very next morning on the 29th August, Kye underwent a procedure to determine what type of leukemia he has via a bone marrow aspiration. During this procedure Kye also underwent a spinal tap to take some spinal fluid to test for leukemic cells and also a central line was put in place.

Kye's bone marrow test result came back and his parents were quickly advised he has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (or ALL) which is highly treatable and has an excellent curable success rate, especially in children.

And while Kye's prognosis for a full recovery is extremely good, this news has been absolutely devastating to his parents, family and friends. He and his little family are going to be living in Melbourne for at least the next 6-7 months while Kye sees out his treatment at the Royal Children's Hospital, leaving behind their house, pet and their jobs. With a brand new baby, living expenses, bills etc. we would like to try and ease at least their financial burdens of having a child in hospital that needs around the clock care so that Tina and Adam can focus on Kye and Zayde during this extremely tense time.

Please spread the word, give what you can and send all your positive healing vibes Kye's way so he can be home with his mum, dad and new baby brother soon <3
