For those of you that don’t know, Kyd Kane is a local to global poet, artist and peace beacon!

In 2017, Kyd became the first poet/vocal artist to become a finalist in the history of ArtPrize, the largest art competition in the world, with her first entry, "broke(n)hunger". This year she will become the first poet/vocal artist to win! #intentionsettingisattractive 

Kyd is calling on her entire global network as she continues to  pull rabbit after rabbit out of her hat to get this year’s ArtPrize project done!

This year's piece is titled "LEMON•aid", which tells the story of the resilience that's required in a life that continues to hand you lemons. "LEMON•aid" takes a crucial look at the age old adage "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade" and begs the question, what if you can't because the water is poisoned. 

LEMON•aid is an experience that combines spoken word poetry with visual imagery to depict the relationship between struggle and triumph in a strained social economic infrastructure. Using poetry, Kyd Kane identifies the insufficient “aid” provided to those in underprivileged communities and reflects on the conditions of those who live there. This poetic installation draws on her own experience growing up in a place that has been referred to as the second-worst city for African Americans by Forbes Magazine. Delivered with such raw emotion and words woven rhythmically and metaphorically, while combining elements to engage all of the senses, LEMON•aid is sure to bring about an emotional connection from the audience, no matter the demographic. creating a one-of-a-kind, multi-layered experience.

Each donation will help get the project closer and closer to completion covering the following expenses:

To keep Kyd from being broke(n)hungry during the 30 day exhibition
