We are reaching out to you on behalf of our dear friend, Katie Garvey.
A few months ago, Katie went to the doctor after she felt a lump in her neck. After multiple weeks and a series of tests and biopsies, the doctors discovered cancer in the lymph nodes across both sides of Katie’s neck, thyroid, clavicular area, mediastinum & pulmonary area. Luckily, it had not yet metastasized to any other organs or below her diaphragm, and as a result, Katie was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma. The doctors and Katie are very optimistic, as Hodgkins is a very cureable cancer and they luckily caught it before it had advanced too far.
Katie is also a tough cookie and is facing the upcoming battle and several months of chemo treatments with both fists raised. She also is not above cracking bald jokes with her siblings, friends & kids, and also claiming the best brownie “because cancer.” She is, as ever, committed to her children and to working her tail off at her new job. And while there is not a doubt in our minds that Katie will overcome the upcoming physical and mental challenges that lie ahead, she needs your help.
Asking for help has never been Katie’s forte, which is why we are reaching out to you today. As a single mother, Katie is provider, caregiver, house cleaner, gardener, chauffeur, and everything else that goes into working full time and raising 3 young girls. And while Katie is committed to continuing the first two jobs on that list throughout her chemo treatments, the reality is that physically she will not be able to do much else.
We would like you to prayerfully consider a monetary contribution to support her family in keeping the wheels turning in their home so that there is as little disruption to her three girls’ lives, when everything else will likely feel upside down as they see their mother (who has always been their rock) physically weaken. Funds raised during this campaign will also help defray the thousands of dollars in medical expenses that are quickly adding up.
