Last year in June I moved my family from Raleigh, NC to Reading, PA for a new job. After the last time I moved us across country from Fargo, ND to Raleigh, NC only to get laid off, I vetted this extremely carefully. It was a good solid company with a good track record and I worked with them remotely for a while to be sure it was a good fit. All was well until January when several employees, not just myself, were unfortunately laid off. My wife and I cut back on everything we could find to cut costs on. Between unemployment and some side work we have made just enough to scrape by. I haven't found any work that pays enough for us to get ahead. I've done a lot of side stuff including painting houses for paltry amounts trying to just get by. I've applied for countless position in and outside of my field and either gotten no response, been told sorry we don't need anyone right now, you're over qualified, or you're under qualified. It's been frustrating to say the least. Between my depression and my hypertension I've had some pretty rough days since January.

After a lot of talking, my wife and I decided that since we have moved four times for work, and all four times have ended in disaster, that we would move back to her hometown in Montana so we have a support network of family. The problem is getting there. I'm not asking for help feeding my kids, I'm doing that fine, but I need help with the expenses for moving. We priced out several options, and are selling pretty much everything we can so we can use the smallest  U-Haul, but it's still more money than we have and at this point I am not confident I will find enough side work or a remote full or part time job to cover it in time. After estimating costs of the truck, fuel, food, hotel (2 young kids and a dog on a 1900 mile trip is going to take 3 days at least, maybe 4), and a little in case of an emergency, we estimated between $2500-$3000. We have $500 saved up, but it's not building fast enough. I hate asking for free money, I am more than willing to work for it so if you need website or server work, or a logo or something designed or animated, or video editing, or anything else, I'd rather do that and earn it.

Come the end of June our lease is up at our current place and we cannot renew it because I don't have a full time job, so this is me swallowing my pride and asking for help. If you can help out I would be truly grateful.

Thank you for your time,

Charles Rowland

Wish I could have a good update but i don't. With having to use the little extra we had for the move, we are now past due on all the bills and short for rent. Kristal doesn't get paid for a while, and I have had no luck with finding a local job yet. Even with her check, and what I can deduct from rent for fixing things I should not have needed to, it's going to be so small that it won't make a dent. We still need help if you can.

Moving day came and went. We somehow managed to make the move but it was definitely a struggle. We had some help with a hotel thankfully, and gas prices came in under my original budget which helped us a lot.

Because of the situation, we had to take a place pretty much site unseen, and as you can imagine, it's not pretty. We have only been here a few days, but I am pretty sure it's going to be like pulling teeth to get the property management to fix anything. I started making repairs on my own already so that some parts are at least in decent shape. We could still use some help with getting funds for repairing things, I have some safety concerns regarding the kids (windows have broken glass, the basement has live electrical wiring exposed from supports, etc) so it's a priority.

Finally, I wanted to just give a huge thank you to everyone that helped us out. Without your help we would have never have been able to make this move so we are truly grateful for your support.
