On October 9th, 2018 my kids amd my 2.5 month pregnant self packed up into my little Kia soul and evacuated to my friend Angie's house in an Orlando suburb.  We, like so many thought, we would be gone a couple days for an over hyped rain storm and we would be home.  Packing nothing but that days cloths and another set we hit the road.  On October 10th, 2018...Angie and i sat glued to phone and tv's without letting our kids know what was going on.  We watched as our homes were removed from the map.  Our community everything.

I went home to salvage what i could find of my families strewn around my neighborhood.  We lost a car that we thought was just going tohave a car wash while we were gone into the gulf of mexico--the entire contents of our down stairs had a similar fate.  The main beam of the home cracked making it unliveable amd our upstairs managed to entirely fly our the window.  We rented amd we were now homeless.
We house flopped at my friend Al and Reponda's trying to get our feet on the ground.  Find jobs.  Find schools.  Find a new place to live.  A high school friend who i will never be able to repay in generosity jumped to the rescue and set up a fundraiser.  It allowed us to pay for: daycare while we got settled, our car payment and imsurance briefly, last electric and water bills from the house we lost.
Its officially the new year and i have just now been reemployed.  I work with imtellectually and physically disabled people and make minimum wage. I have a repossession notice for my car. I am dricing uninsured.  My kids dad is $33,000 behind in child support and I am about 4 weeks away from having a new baby.
I will not be struggling forever i just need to make ends meet for the next few months while I have a  baby and am forced to take time off because i wont be able to enrol her in childcare until she is six weeks old.  I need desperately to keep my car.
I know most of you are thinking,  "use your tax refund..." But that is saddly another story of government corruption because i defaulted on student loans and havent recieved a tax refund in 9 years--paying back my student loans 3 times over without a refund once.
Struggle is a word that is not mew to my vocabulary.  Prior to moving due to the storm--I cleaned houses and bartended making more money than i had as a high school principal...but it was not easy work.  Getting out of the hospital with my last baby and cleaning houses the very next day.  I am a hard worker that has just fallen on a desperate time.
If you are able to help in any capacity my family and i would appreciate it more than you can imagine.
Thank you.
Truly,
Sara
