Kunkin Free Press Preservation Project
Donation protected
Art Kunkin, founder, publisher, and editor of the Los Angeles Free Press, passed on April 30th 2019. He left a barn, a trailer, and a shed full of books and historical Free Press material along with a large collection of underground papers from the entire country. It is an historic treasure and it needs to be preserved for the future. There are thousands of books that have to be separated from the Freep material and boxed. This is a huge task and we probably need several thousand boxes. Extra hands and strong backs are also welcome if folks can make the trek to Joshua Tree, . I also need to rent a storage facility to secure materials and money to cover gas, lodging and food as I take on this project of preparing my father's legacy for it's continuing life. The entire L.A. history of the 60's and more lives in this collection . My dad didn't make it to his desired 200 years, but he left a treasure trove of information which should be preserved and made available to anyone who wants to learn about this history. Please help me to accomplish this goal. Any amount is welcome. There are a lot of people watching this. If you all donate 5 or 10 dollars it can help me buy some boxes No amount is too small.
