Kung Fu PANDA Wu is a sweet female Husky mix who's had a rough month.
3 to 5 weeks ago Panda's pelvis was fractured and her hip dislocated - she probably got hit by a car. If she had received proper care within 2-3 days, a vet could've popped the hip back in and set the pelvis. Panda got no care.
2 weeks ago a friend rescued Panda from a crackhead trying to stuff her into a cabinet in an East LA alley. Panda wasn't chipped and still couldn't put any weight on her back leg.
5 days ago - Sunday April 14 - we brought Panda home after the friend didn't have space and couldn't find a husky rescue to take her
Monday April 15, x-rays confirmed too much time has passed since the injury, vet referred Panda to a surgeon.
Wednesday April 17, surgeon confirmed Panda needs a total hip replacement, which costs about $8,000.
We've already spent $1,000 on vet bills in the 5 days since we got her. We can't afford the surgery. But we also can't bear the thought of giving Panda back. Local rescues are full and huskies are one of the most abandoned breeds. There are dozens of perfectly healthy husky puppies available in Southern California right now. Panda wouldn't stand a chance.
We are hoping to raise enough money for the hip replacement surgery. The recovery process is long and painful - we went through it with our German Shepherd Dodger eight years ago: 6-8 weeks of strict confinement inside a crate, requiring a sling for every potty break. We will do what it takes to get her healthy because Panda is family. She is such a sweet and loving dog. Please help us help her. Any little bit helps.
