Hello all,
I'm starting this GoFundMe account for my mother who was recently diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.
A few weeks ago my mother scheduled an appointment with her primary care doctor for a routine check-up and to change blood pressure meds due to nasty side effects the ones she was taking gave her.
Later on that night after her appointment the lab that had done her blood work called her urging her to go to the ER, and that if someone couldn't driver her immediatly that they were going to call an abulance to come get her.
Long story short her sodium were dangerously low and needed to be corrected.
I drove her myself to the ER and stuck around for support. My mother had all kinds of tests ran on her over the span of 3 or 4 hours.
Somewhere along the way they ordered a sonogram of her abdomen. With that, a mass was discovered on her liver. As terrified as my mom and I were to hear the word "tumor" we knew we needed figure out the extent of this, so an CAT scan was ordered that night.
the doctors found tumors in a couple other areas (lungs, lymphnodes, and liver.) After a biopcy was performed on her liver mass, it was confirmed cancer. It was determined it had originated from the lungs and had already spread.
Based on the tumor sized and how much it has spread, they've labeled her stage IV and thrown out surgery and radiation as treatment options.
We're looking into all different treatment options and even getting second opinions. We're also currently focused on changing her diet to an all organic plant-based diet- which has been very expensive.
Also since my mother was diagnosed, she has started feeling the affects of her illness and is in a lot of pain.
My mother is a fighter and is going to beat this thing, but finanically we're needing help.
Doctor's visits, different medications, this new diet... Everything, has been so expensive and we're starting to run out of the resources she needs to continue this battle.
My mother and I have been through so many emotions the past couple weeks, and the financial stress is becoming a bigger and bigger nightmare as the bills pile up.
I love my mother so much and just want to see her positive and happy so she can beat this thing.
If anyone is in a position to help, I ask you from the heart to help in anyway you can.
