Kristen was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma that started in her lung and metastasized to her bones and brain.  Kristen had to quit her job she loved and is receiving radiation treatment daily.  Her doctor is holding off on any other treatments at this time, but there could be other treatment in the future. She has NO health insurance and the bills are piling up.  She has sold her car, she relies on others to get to treatment and appointments.  If you know Kristen, she is the one that takes care of everyone else!  Her Facebook page is filled with pictures of her loved ones! Even during this difficult time she insisted on having an open house when her son came home from the Air Force last week.  She is so proud of her kids! Kristen needs our support! Cancer is so hard both physically and emotionally on it's victims/families.  Knowing that others care enough to donate to the cause by helping her financially will certainly help her emotionally! Your donation will help with medical treatments and medicine.  It will help Kristen's family with living expenses since she had to quit her job and can no longer contribute to the household expenses. Ask family and friends to donate! We are starting the campaign goal at $25,000 but treatments will well exceed this amount!  Your donation will be better than any gift you give this holiday season! Please donate today!

My heart is so heavy this morning as we receive the call last night that Kristen passed away. I hurt for her family, but I am thankful she is out of pain. I am thankful she was surrounded by those she loved. Please pray for Kristen's family as we all understand the many emotions they will feel over the coming days and months ahead. Kristen's beautiful spirit will live on in her children. This world lost a warm, caring, funny, loving and generous person. We are blessed to have had Kristen in our lives, even if only for a short while.

Nine days ago I updated the campaign that Kristen has pneumonia and was being treated with antibiotics. There has been a lot of difficult decisions to be made this last week for Kristen and her family.

Cancer has no boundaries and we wanted to allow her and her family the privacy they needed while making these difficult decisions. Kristen's cancer was more advanced than originally thought and she is now receiving Hospice care to keep her comfortable. This is a very difficult time for her family.

Yesterday Chris & I were able to visit with Kristen's family but she was sleeping while we were there. She had been wake earlier in the day and they shared stories with us of how she still shows her personality and her stubborn streak when being told not to get up, to wait for someone to help her.

I have not known Kristen long, but I feel as though knowing her has made me want to be a better person. Kristen is amazing, caring, generous and selfless - and it all just seemed so natural for her. Her generous spirit should be something we all carry on, to honor her.

Darren shared with us how earlier this year while he and Kristen were checking out at Walmart it was apparent the cashier was having a bad day. Kristen added a candy bar to the items they were purchasing and he thought nothing of it. When they finished checking out, Kristen handed the candy bar to the cashier and told her she hoped her day wouldn't be as bad now. That's what we should all strive for -- to show more compassion for others. Small gestures can go a long way.

Today, I ask that you lift Kristen and her family up in prayer as the days ahead are going to be difficult. There are still going to be expenses for her family. Let's show the same compassion to her family has she showed to others -- even if they were strangers.

Today, instead of the stop at the coffee shop, or whatever "treat" you allow yourself -- skip that for one day and click the "DONATE" button. Make that small sacrifice to show your compassion, love and support.

Good Evening friends & supporters! Just a couple of things to update you all. Kristen has been under the weather and the doctor said she has pneumonia, so she is on antibiotics and hopefully will be feeling better soon!

GFM has asked that I keep this campaign as transparent as possible, which I do appreciate. For those that have noticed the campaign lists Kristen's daughter, "Tonee Guy on behalf of Olivia Peifer (daughter)" this is because we want Kristen to have access to this campaign, and we needed to include someone in her family to do this -- our own transparency. Olivia is keeping us informed of what is going on with Kristen and she is by her mother's side as much as she can be while working. Her employer has been wonderful working with her when she needs to be with her mom. GFM felt we needed to clear that up, in case anyone was wondering.

The outpouring of support, love and generous donations has been uplifting for Kristen and has allowed her to focus on her health. There is still a long way to go to meet our goal, but I am confident if we continue to share, tweet and give we will reach our goal, and maybe even exceed it! Thank you again to all of you who have donated!
