Kris LaPrell Medical Emergency

I am very particular of who I support on the innumerable Go Fund Me pages on Facebook. I have always felt strongly that these funds are designed to help those in medical necessity situations, funeral expenses, emergency pet care etc. I feel STRONGLY that the following case is a true testament as to what these funds are truly representative of. Almost three years ago, my brother Kris was diagnosed with a very serious medical condition called spinal stenosis. What this entailed was replacing one of his discs in his neck. The surgeon showed the family his MRI when Kris was in recovery and we could not believe how bad his spine was. It showed his vertebrae were all deformed. He was suffering from pinch nerves up and down his spine. The Dr. said he suffered from Degenerative Disc Disease. The surgeon could not believe that he had not been paralyzed before then. He said one wrong, quick move of his neck could certainly cause paralysis. Due to the seriousness, he was only able to replace one disc in his neck and he told us that Kris had 5 more in his neck alone that needed to be replaced and 3 in his lower back. Two and a half years later, due to illness, insurance issues etc. those follow-up operations have not happened. He was forced to get done a job he loved and was very good at. He was licensed through the state of Maine as an insurance agent. He was devastated and at that time family and friends suggested he allow them to set up a Go Fund Me page and he refused. He was adamant he would prevail. This past summer he was able to realize a HUGE dream of opening his own business. He sunk everything he had into, monetarily and energetically. It is a business that you HAVE to be there to make any money. It is a recycling business and his money goes out daily and then he waits to be paid by the recycling companies. That alone has been a huge hardship BUT he again was adamant to prevail. However, Kris has been diagnosed with a very serious infection that requires DAILY (7 days a week!!) in hospital Intravenous antibiotics. It will take, with travel 3-4 hours a day and entails six weeks. We, as a family are looking into how we can help him re-open his business with family manning it for now. It still requires monies out, long before monies in. Gas and meds not administered in the hospital setting are an outrageous cost. Anyone who knows Kris knows that he is the first to contribute when people are in need. As much as he was hurting the other day there was an elderly gentleman who needed help and Kris said, “stop the car” and he got out and helped him. He gives to every local fundraiser and encourages, even, at times, shames others to do the same. I am setting up a Go Fund Me page for him but some feel funny that there is a fee that Go Fund Me takes out, it is VERY minimal and 98% goes directly to Kris. Every dollar will help with uncovered medical costs——gas, meds etc. If someone would like to send him a card directly and/or contribute monetarily his address is P.O. Box 552, Dixfield, Maine 04224. I thank you in advance for your prayers and consideration. Many blessings to you all. Also, PLEASE share on your wall or share the Go Fund Me when I have it up and running. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
