“Kindred Creatures” will be a feature length  documentary exploring the personalities & ways of life of the animals used in animal agriculture. The documentary will explore their personalities, the bonds they share with humans, similarities between them and other animals, and where the animals came from. Kindred Creatures  will also focus on a few activists who fight for them. The animals will be filmed around the country  in habitats that allow for their natural traits to come alive and flourish.

The end result is to leave the viewers with a positive and hopeful outlook. Ultimately, the goal is to have the  audience meet who it is that goes into the making of their food.

These are stories and animals that are so close to my heart. It is my dream to make this film but I cannot do it without your help.

So far, the film has shot with Spring Farm Sanctuary, Farmaste Sanctuary, Rooster Redemption & Chicken Run Rescue in Minnesota, as well as Soulspace Sanctuary in Wisconsin. Additional shooting with the sanctuaries will be scheduled but is almost complete!

Mercy For Animals, Direct Action Everywhere, Christine Coughlin of the Humane Society, vegan Chef AmyLeo Barankovich, & Chicken Run Rescue's vet, Dr. Larry, have all been shot with as well.

I will be using the funds raised on GoFundMe to help get the production of the film started. Our $7,000 goal is enough to get things moving. The funds will help cover some of the costs that come with making a feature film: music licensing, equipment costs, graphics/logos, festival submission fees, lawyer costs, GoFundMe fees, final trips to Minnesota, insurance, etc. This film cannot get made without your help! The sooner I get funding, the sooner I can finish shooting/editing and make an imact for these animals.

Anyone who donates with their email will be signed up for the Kindred Creatures newsletter which will have updates on the film, exclusive behind the scenes photos, and videos.

I have been editing a ton and the film is looking great! A time-line for completion of the film would be the beginning/middle of 2019. I will do premieres in North Dakota, Minneapolis, & Los Angeles. I will then submit it to festivals around the country and do a public release after the festival premieres.

The website is available at  www.kindredcreaturesfilm.com

The animals need us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you so much for the help you provide along the way. It means the world to me knowing there are others who want to make an impact in the lives of animals.

The official trailer for Kindred Creatures is now available! The film has only a couple more shoots until I am wrapped. The edit is going very well but has about 6 more months before we can premiere it. I will be premiering it in Bismarck, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. From there I will submit it to film festivals across the country before we can sell the film online and on DVDs. Please watch and share the trailer!

Kindred Creatures will have a booth alongside Farmaste Farm Sanctuary at Vegfest in Minneapolis on September 16th. My producer Medora and I will be showing clips of the film and selling stickers and t-shirts. Please come by if you can! The film still has lots left to do and still needs donations. If you feel so inclined, please donate whatever you can. We appreciate it so greatly and cannot finish this film without you!

The biggest hurdle in terms of shooting has been overcome! Thanks to all of the generous donations, I was able to film in Los Angeles, Berkeley, and San Francisco for Kindred Creatures the past week.
The producer of the film, Medora, was able to fly along with me. I am currently in a wheelchair and crutches due to an unfortunate knee injury and will be undergoing knee surgery in the coming weeks. Without Medora's help, I would not have been able to make this trip alone. She literally pushed me in a wheelchair through the streets of San Francisco as I was filming alongside 1000 people marching through downtown. The funds allowed us both to be there and we are grateful for this.

We shot many great interviews and met truly wonderful people. It's inspiring to be around so many others passionate about helping animals.

The edit of the film is coming together more and more as the days go by. There is still quite a bit to do but I am happy with how it has been shaping. Shooting for the film is almost wrapped! I have a couple more trips to the Minneapolis area to make over the summer when I can walk again, but once they are completed, only the editing will be left.

The journey of creating this film over the last couple of years has been tough but I have learned so many new things about myself, animals, and filmmaking in the process. I couldn't be doing this without support and funding. Thank you for helping to make this all a reality!

The past few months have been filled with shoots in the Midwest region. Ive expanded the stories of a couple of the featured sanctuaries and have done interviews from a vet's perspective as well as in the Minnesota state capitol regarding laws and legalities of farm animals. I have been editing all winter and the film is slowly staring to take shape. I still have a journey ahead of me but am excited to show everyone what Ive been working on!
My next step is to schedule a trip to California to shoot with Mercy for Animals and Direct Action Everywhere.
Im hoping to finish shooting by the end of May or early June and then have an edit by the end of the year to start submitting to festivals.
Thank you for all the continued support. I could not be doing this without your help!

Thank you so much for your help in making this film become a reality.

I wanted to send an update as to what some of the money raised on GoFundMe has been used for so far.

I went back to Minneapolis and was able to secure more shooting with Chicken Run Rescue as well as start shooting with Spring Farm Sanctuary and Farmaste Sanctuary.

I shot with the three legged sheep, Blue, at Farmaste and was able to finally film with and meet cows at Spring Farm! All of these animals were so amazing and lovable.

The stories I was able to capture will be great additions to the feature film and the bonds Ive made while I was there will be cherished.

My 50mm lens also broke and I was also able to get it fixed so I can continue on making this film!

Thanks for your continued support!
