“Kindred Creatures” is a feature length documentary exploring the personalities and ways of life of animals used in animal agriculture. The documentary explores these animals’ personalities, the bonds they share with humans, and impactful stories of their rescue. Kindred Creatures also highlights farm animal sanctuaries and the wonderful work they do to help victims of animal agriculture and neglect.

The end result is to leave the viewers with a positive and hopeful outlook. Ultimately, the goal is to have the  audience meet who it is that goes into the making of their food.

These are stories and animals that are so close to my heart. It is my dream to make this film but I cannot do it without your help.

The film has shot with Spring Farm Sanctuary, Farmaste Sanctuary, Rooster Redemption & Chicken Run Rescue in Minnesota, as well as Soulspace Sanctuary in Wisconsin.

Mercy For Animals, Direct Action Everywhere, Christine Coughlin of the Humane Society, Cam F. Awesome, J. Selby’s, & vegan chef AmyLeo Barankovich also showcase their voices in the film.

I will be using the funds raised on GoFundMe to help get the production of the film finished. Our $7,000 goal is enough to make that happen. The funds will help cover some of the costs that come with making a feature film: music licensing, equipment costs, graphics/logos, festival submission fees, lawyer costs, GoFundMe fees, final trips to Minnesota, insurance, etc. This film cannot get made without your help! The sooner I get funding, the sooner I can finish shooting/editing and make an imact for these animals.

Anyone who donates with their email will be signed up for the Kindred Creatures newsletter which will have updates on the film, exclusive behind the scenes photos, and videos.

I have been editing a ton and the film is looking great! A time-line for completion of the film would be the beginning/middle of 2019. I will do premieres in North Dakota, Minneapolis, & Los Angeles. I will then submit it to festivals around the country and do a public release after the festival premieres.

The animals need us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you so much for the help you provide along the way. It means the world to me knowing there are others who want to make an impact in the lives of animals.

Its with great difficulty that we announce that Kindred Creatures is being pushed back. The screenings will be postponed so that this film can be what it needs to be. We watched it again the other day and felt that the film wasn’t quite there yet. We have to cut out a good portion of the film and reshoot more animals with their inspiring stories. After my heart attacks, I was rushing to get the film done because I felt it kept my mind in a better place, one where I was working and not about what had just happened to me. But with that, I didnt have the time, strength, or resources to make it what it needed to be. This has been a very difficult decision but one that needed to be done. We will be shooting more over the summer and will screen the film once we have a new cut ready. Thanks for understanding and for being a part of this crazy journey. We are doing all of this for the animals and we want to make them proud.

Kindred Creatures is finished! We are still working on obtaining some licensing for the film and getting insurance but the bulk of it is complete! This is such a huge deal for us since we have been working on this film for two and a half years. It has been a labor of love and we are very proud of the final result.

We have a world premiere date for the first screening in my hometown of Bismarck, ND on April 24th. If you'd like to buy tickets to this showing, please visit the film's website at www.kindredcreaturesfilm.com

We are also trying to secure more screenings in other areas of the country so don't despair. Just follow along to the website to see a list of screenings as they happen.

There is still much to do to get the film out and ready to be shown publicly and this involves insurance and licensing which is quite expensive. Any help with donations on this page is still much appreciated!

Thank you for everything you have done and we can't wait for you to see the film!

Sam is almost done with the entire film!! He will be done editing and color grading by the end of the month. This is huge, as for those of you who don’t know, Sam had two major heart attacks this summer and was in a coma. He almost didn’t make it but has made an incredible recovery. He is our miracle! After Sam woke from his coma, he wasn’t even able to fully use his fingers and it was difficult for him to even sit up. Now he has finished cardiac rehab and can jog for a few moments at a time! He has been persevering and working so hard to get this film done. This project is his passion: he lives for helping animals and has the biggest heart around. Seriously, ask anyone who knows him! Although Sam is almost done with the film, there is still much to do: submitting to film festivals, securing graphics and legalizing some final touches. If you feel so inclined, we would be so grateful for any donation to Kindred Creatures’ GoFundMe page to help put the finishing touches on the film. We would like to help as many animals as possible through the viewing of this film and we appreciate any support that comes our way. Thank you!

The official trailer for Kindred Creatures is now available! The film has only a couple more shoots until I am wrapped. The edit is going very well but has about 6 more months before we can premiere it. I will be premiering it in Bismarck, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. From there I will submit it to film festivals across the country before we can sell the film online and on DVDs. Please watch and share the trailer!

Kindred Creatures will have a booth alongside Farmaste Farm Sanctuary at Vegfest in Minneapolis on September 16th. My producer Medora and I will be showing clips of the film and selling stickers and t-shirts. Please come by if you can! The film still has lots left to do and still needs donations. If you feel so inclined, please donate whatever you can. We appreciate it so greatly and cannot finish this film without you!
