Kindred Cities Spring 2018 Issue

Kindred Cities first launched as a Tumblr portrait blog in January 2015, mostly featuring creatives from Saskatoon and Regina. Kindred Cities has served as a platform to celebrate Saskatchewan artists, and in many cases as a means of introducing citizens from the two cities to one another, and at times inspiring collaboration.

Kindred Cities has evolved to also explore social topics and to shine a spotlight on those who are actively working to dismantle oppressive systems within our province.

This next version of Kindred Cities will continue to feature the beloved portraits and interviews from citizens in and around treaties 6 and 4. We are also expanding our content to showcase some of the work of our artists and writers which will include fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.  As a fun addition to the March 20th launch, we are also including horoscopes and a fashion section. 

We are looking forward to seeing how Kindred Cities will evolve further, and we will be receptive to your thoughtful feedback and take it into consideration with the organizing of each issue. There will be four "issues" of Kindred Cities published each year, one per season.

Kindred Cities is non-profit and your donations will go towards honorariums of Fifty Dollars ($50) to contributors, prioritizing the payment of BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of colour), visibly queer contributors, and contributors with challenged abilities. Donations will also go to website fees and t-shirts.

If we exceed our monetary goal this month, the surplus will be donated to the family of Colten Boushie. Those who donate at least $25 will receive a sweet t-shirt (light grey or dark grey) with the new Kindred Cities graphic, designed by Jeffrey Popiel, and printed by Articulate Ink.
