KimStrong - Help for Kim

On Thursday, January 17th, Kim was involved in a serious car crash involving her vehicle and a semi truck.  She suffered life threatening injuries requiring her to be airlifted to a hospital in Chicago.  Kim had a fractured skull with bleeding and swelling in the brain. She also fractured her C6 vertebrae in her neck.  Work was done to fix her skull fracture and reduce the swelling in her brain. She then underwent a 3 hour long surgery on the vertebrae in her neck. 

She is still in the ICU and the swelling in her brain is being monitored.  The surgery went well and she is able to move her upper body.  Doctors will know more about injuries in the rest of her body once the swelling from the accident has gone down. She currently is coherent, talking, drinking fluids, and eating crackers. She will be undergoing another surgery on Tuesday to fix some torn ligaments in her neck. 

The Doctors are very positive with the ongoing progress of Kim's condition. To all of us, Kim is brave, strong, and kind. She is a scrappy little fighter and will fight her way through this with the strength of her amazing family, boyfriend, and friends by her side. 

This Go Fund Me page has been set up with the consent of Kim's family. We anticipate a long recovery road ahead for Kim. The helicopter flight from the accident to the hospital, the time in the ICU, the multiple surgeries, the physical therapy, any disability services, and etc can only begin to describe the amount of costs ahead on the road to recovery. We will try very hard to update you on Kim's progress as she continues through recovery.

The path ahead for Kim and the Huguelet family is a difficult one and we know that friends and family have been reaching out asking for ways to help and support the family at this time.
