Kim's Story
On May 5th, 2017 our family received some very unfortunate news. My beautiful mom was diagnosed with Differentiated Ductal Carcinoma. This is one of the more common types of breast cancer, but her case it is very aggressive and needs to be dealt with immediately. This came as a shock to her and all of our family, but we are all staying positive and know that God is watching over her and will help get her through this difficult time with ease.
She noticed several lumps in her breasts that were bothering her and were uncomfortable. She went to the doctor to get them checked just to make sure nothing was wrong. She was told that it was a serious and very aggressive type of cancer. She has been going to the hospital for tests and treatment. Thankfully, it has not reached her limph nodes, but unfortunately, it is too large to remove surgically. She needs chemotherapy and radiation to shrink the tumors before the doctors will be able to remove it.
She starts chemo on the May 23 and is nervous, as anyone going through this would be. Despite her nerves she is optimistic and putting her trust in God and her doctors to keep her safe. She will be getting treatments for 3 months until the doctors will be able to determine if the cancer has shrunk enough to safely remove it surgically.
For anyone who has experienced cancer personally or in your family, you know the financial expenses for the appointments, treatments, and medications. In addition to missing work due to feeling sick and physical exhaustion. The money that we raise will help my mom and Darrin with that burden.
