Kim and Sienna for ARC- South Goa

Kim and Sienna are raising money towards a trip to Goa, India!!  here we will be volunteering our time and expertise to The Animal Rescue Centre- south Goa (https://arcgoa.in/) We are both experienced, passionate veterinary nurses and really want the opportunity to help animals in need.

The Animal Rescue Centre in South Goa is a charitable organisation set up in 2005 to cope with the large number and ill condition of local stray animals, as well as the upsetting methods in which they were annually culled.

The animals of India live a very hard life, they are often abandoned, mistreated, injured/unwell, abused and starving. We really want the opportunity to change the life of these animals for better. We are prepared to work tirelessly, cry, sweat and get soaked in the rain everyday to do so.

This trip will allow us to provide preventative, on going and lifesaving treatment to the animals of Goa. We will be taking with us a variety of medications, bandages, preventative treatments, flea and worm control, blankets/bedding and medical equipment. We are excited to work hard to help the animals and share our knowledge with the local people. 

Our work in India will involve the following; 

*ABC (Animal Birth Control Programme)

*Anti Rabies Vaccinations

*Combination Injections to prevent Parvo, Distemper and other fatal diseases

*Bathing, de-ticking and de-worming

*Emergency care for injured and ill animals.

*Educating and raising awareness among the local community on how to care for and treat their pets and the many strays

*Feeding the strays during the monsoon – This is an essential part of our work as most of the strays are without food out of the tourist season

Any funds raised will go towards the cost of travel, visas, vaccinations, providing medicines/medical equipment, providing preventative treatment such as wormers/flea control, transporting the medicines/medical equipment to India, food for the strays and the ongoing care of shelter animals and the charity itself. 

We will be travelling May 2019, which is the height of the monsoon season.

Your support will go a long way while we prepare to undergo this trip; we will be continuously gathering medical supplies, sharpening our front line nursing skills and preparing ourselves mentally. 

Any donations would mean the world to us, to the charity but mostly to the animals we plan to help.
