I am a passionate advocate for educational equity, who teaches middle school Spanish. My first experience abroad during the summer of my junior year of college changed my trajectory in life; and, it is my desire to impart to my students the opportunity to study abroad. See my story here

I am seeking sponsorship for 11 remarkable students who will travel to Costa Rica for an all-inclusive, week long cultural immersion trip April of 2017. The cost per student is $2,295.
While I know study abroad at the middle school level is rare, I want to normalize these types of experiences because they are truly rewarding and life changing. A trip abroad would accelerate their Spanish language skills and interpersonal skills by immersing them in a Spanish speaking culture. I want to help shape my student’s narratives and expand their sense of self. I envision 7 days of self-discovery where students will authentically engage in new experiences that will manifest into a renewed sense of confidence and intellectual curiosity.
To prepare for this experience, students will meet throughout the year to learn important background information related to Costa Rica’s sustainability efforts, rich culture and biodiversity.
