People are social creatures and we learn, first, by modeling what we see. That's why it is so important to surround children with positive role models. With Kids of the Kosmos, we aim to serve this need by creating a cast of characters who empower children with images of excellence from heroes who are just like them. These heroes include:

Nefertari—or Tari, as her friends like to call her—is a very accomplished young lady of Sudanese descent and a leader among her peers. She is the Student Body President, and Chief Judge of her school’s Student Court.

Amir is a computer wiz from the Gullah Geechee Nation. He engages all things about technology and likes to spend his time in his shop, building robots and gadgets.

Titus hails from Brazil, where his parents own a martial arts academy. His father is a master of Capoeira and his mother is a master of Jiu Jitsu. Titus wants to follow in their footsteps, as well as expand his learning of other martial arts.

Zoë is a fierce journalist from New Orleans. As the head anchor of KOTK News, she is a social media expert and has her own blog.

Sophia is a daughter of the Caribbean. She loves to be surrounded by plant life, animals, and heart-warming people. Sofia’s passion is to heal others, whether it be people, plants, or animals. She dreams of becoming a doctor.

Heru is a scientist from the Solomon Islands. He loves chemistry and solar energy. He wants to unlock the possibilities of green energy living to make the Earth a better place for everyone.

Our products include school supplies, activity books, and posters that present these characters and follow them as they develop their talents and explore the world.

OUR CAMPAIGN

It is our mission to uplift our children and a privilege to empower our community, but we will also need community support from people like you to reach more children.

This holiday season, we have partnered with Wisdom from the Field (WFTF) to give our products away to children. WFTF is a non-profit organization that mentors and tutors well over 400 children in Los Angeles. Their work has been supported by figures such as Willie “Mukasa” Ricks—founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (known for coining the phrase “Black Power”)—and Professor Earl 5X Grant—founding member of Malcolm X’s Organization For Afro-American Unity (OAAU).

With each $1,500 raised, WFTF will give 100 children 1 journal, 1 notebook, and 1 poster. 40% of proceeds will go into research and development for our upcoming activity book, which will share the history and culture of the Afrikan Diaspora with elementary school children.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Every contribution helps us move this project forward, and we are humbled by everyone who joins us on this venture. As a token of our appreciation, all contributors will be added to our mailing list to receive 20% OFF our products at the end of the campaign. Also, donations over $25 will be rewarded with a thank you poster, and donations over $40 will be rewarded with a free activity book when we release them to our store.

Please, share this campaign with your family and friends to help us reach our goal, and learn more about us on our website .

Asante!
