Jesse's Kidney Post Transplant Fund

Donation protected
Jesse has lived with Chronic Kidney Disease most of his life. He found out he had it during a routine physical in college. At that time, he was at 25% total function and in stage 3 renal failure.

He maintained at stage 3 until the winter of 2014. He dropped down to 18% and was eligible to go on both donor lists. December of 2015 his total function again dropped down to 12%. He was told to go on dialysis. December of that year, he received a PD port in his abdomen to do dialysis from home. His levels were high at that time due to being prescribed more calcium intake. After reducing his intake (which had caused other side effects) his levels also went back down, and didn't need to be on dialysis at that time.

In March of 2016, his nephrologist then decided to remove the port as he was more concerned about the risk of infection at the entry point. Both surgeries were performed at a local twin cities hospital, and both times with negative post surgical healing experiences (due to poor communication between the surgical staff).

We then switched over to Mayo Clinics Kidney Transplant center and have been on their lists since May of 2016. We are happy, excited, and prayerfully patient for a new kidney.

Jesse's wife Erica is working to become a donor TOWARDS Jesse as she is not a blood match (He is O+, Erica is A+) but is willing to donate in the "Paired Program" which causes a chain to help more than one person receive a kidney in the process. This helps Mayo find a match sooner for Jesse also.

If you are still reading our story - it is February of 2017, and his total kidney function is down to 9% and he is in end stage 5 Renal Failure (which is the final stage).

We have family/friends who will be by our sides to help while in post surgical recovery, we don't yet know what finance restraints will happen. Money raised from this campaign will go towards operation and recovery expenses, as well as ongoing medication costs.

After Jesse receives his new kidney, he will be going to the clinic 2-3x a week for lab tests, and be on a new regimen of drugs (anti-rejection) for the rest of his life.

He has 2 young daughters (13 and 6) and a wife by his side along with many family and friends both local and long distance. Right now he is very tired around working his normal hours, and is sleeping more - which is causing his wife to do most if not all of the normal house/family management duties. We feel we are losing precious normal family time with him.

Transplant surgery could be happening anytime in the near future. We Thank You for taking the time to read our story, and will be forever grateful that you decided to donate towards this process to prolong his life.
