Sanctuary Cage Bank Purchase

$1,075 of $1,000 goal

Raised by 31 people in 1 month
Since opening 2 years ago I have continued to make improvements to the sanctuary to better the health and well-being of the kitties brought to me. Recently I added a quarantine section/room which was needed due to the amount of shelter kitties I rescue that come in with contagious viruses including the common kitty cold. They need to be kept separately from the general population to avoid everyone getting sick, ending up with not only sick cats but an increase in veterinary bills. The quarantine area is small. I don’t have a lot of space to hold many cats inside this section. I can only fit 2 dog cages which are not actually the best for sick cats as they are open. I. realized that what we needed a veterinary style cage that is completely enclosed which keeps the viruses from spreading easily, and is easier to clean than your average dog crate. I have been searching for a bank of groomers or veterinary cages for a reasonable price. Brand new a commercial cage bank can cost anywhere from $3000 and up. Due to the cost I have been seeking used cage banks. I finally found a woman who is selling her grooming salon and we have negotiated a deal. I will be able to get 6 cages under $200 each or $900 for the entire bank. The bank fits perfectly in the quarantine area. I am asking for financial help with this purchase as I am still not an official non profit and have no access to nonprofit grant money. Any amount will help! This would be a huge asset as this will allow me to take in 6 cats that need to be quarantined from the general population. That’s more lives saved and keeping all the resident cats safe and healthy. Thank you for considering, donating and sharing this fundraiser.

Hello!!

Our first quarantine patients in the cage banks. First is Dolly a pure bred senior Persian pulled from a Florida shelter who may have contagious viral infections we need to observe her for. Second is one of our resident kitties named Chanel who is suffering with a common kitty cold and needs antibiotics. Thank you to all who donated to this very important asset to our sanctuary. As you can see, we are already benefiting greatly! ❤️

Good Morning!

The primary reason for the addition of the professional cage bank is to have the ability to pull cats from shelters. Mostly the NYC ACC which is a kill shelter. Almost all cats from these shelters carry with them a feline virus that is friendly, contagious, to all the sanctuary cats. With the quarantine area now in place the sanctuary can manage this common issue, keeping the healthy resident cats safe from contagions brought in by recent rescues. Not all the cats come from NYC. This week I visited family in Florida. I learned there was a senior cat in need located at a shelter not too far from where I was staying. I took a short ride to the shelter and basically adopted this beautiful senior Persian kitty, Dolly. She was brought in a week or so ago by a hoarder who had finally released of all her animals. Dolly has a URI (upper respiratory infection) and was so heavily matted, she had been shaved at the shelter. She has an awful ear infection which I will treat immediately. Obviously this kitty had been neglected in her former living arrangements.

Dolly will be coming home with me today from FL flying under my seat in a soft carrier. She is not only adorable but has an amazing temperament and hopefully will be available for adoption! ❤️

Thank you again for your support and donations!
