Selfless Service in Nepal

Donation protected
I will be traveling to Nepal in Oct. of 2012, volunteering my time with two non-profit grass-roots organizations, that help to raise awareness, support  and sustainability of women and children in need.  I volunteered with these same non-profit organizations in 2008, and I'm heading back to further build upon the work that I've started with them.

These efforts are focused on making sure that all women and children have their basic rights to healthcare, education, food, shelter and clothing.  I hope to raise funds to support my travel and selfless service endeavors within Nepal this year.

I am also raising donations of working laptops and girls dresses for the children's home.  Please visit my website PrimalEarthYoga.com, to contact me about mailing donations, or to learn more about how I am involved with local and international non-profit work that focuses on women, children, community, and sustainability.

With loving gratitude, thank you warmly for your kindness and support.

Here is information for those wanting to know about the organizations I'll be supporting, and the work that I'll be doing with each.

Women who have been abandoned, widowed, burned, sold for prostitution or slavery, or who are overcoming addiction, have very few opportunities and little hope for finding re-entry into society.  The Citta Himalaya Women's Center is helping to take these women and give them the tools needed to care for themselves and their families, though the making and sale of hand woven goods.  I am offering a one day retreat for the women, focusing on the greatness & power of being a woman, which is not often celebrated in Nepali culture.  I also plan to offer learning materials and a workshop on the newest trends in the U.S to help support their fair trade handicraft exports to the west, as well as assisting them through these sales.

Nepal's school system is often lacking the support needed for proper educational materials and facilities, which has resulted in an ever growing population of homeless uneducated children.  If a child is fortunate enough to have an opportunity for school, they are often taught in a very rigid militaristic fashion, that focuses solely on the intellectual being of the child, completely ignoring the inherent emotional and spiritual nature of children.  The Children of the Universe project is an orphanage and Waldorf inspired primary school that is run by a Nepali/Dutch family.  I am planning to offer another one week follow up training to the one that I offered in 08' that is based upon the philosophy of Rudolph Steiner.  I am also taking a group of volunteers over to Nepal with me to further assist at the children's home and school.
