Kevin's Brain Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected

This page is for funding Kevin's Brain tumour treatment.

Kevin (37) is father to the beautiful little girl Mia-Lily and partner to the lovely Kerry. He is also brother to Malcolm, Andy, Kayleigh & Alannah. In late November 2012 Kevin was having severe headaches. He went to his local GP on a couple of occasions as the pain would not go away. The GP suggested having an eye test as this could be the possible cause, then before he had the eye test one evening during December in the middle of the night the pain was unbearable. Kevin didn't call an ambulance and somehow drove to Southampton Hospital. It was here he had a CT scan followed by an MRI scan and from that moment onwards his life was about to  change.

He was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme grade 4 brain tumour. Kevin had an operation to remove the tumour then underwent six weeks of intensive radiotherapy, alongside this he had double dosage of chemotherapy for six months. Kevin never had to have a break from his treatment and fought through the entire treatment plan. Right from the word go Kevin has been positive and taken everything in his stride and shown immense courage. He also had everything to fight for when Kerry gave birth to their daughter Mia-Lily in June 2013.

In March 2014 (8 months after finishing the treatment) Kevin received the news that the tumour had returned, Kevin underwent another operation to have the second tumour removed. Kevin soon was fighting fit again and started a different chemotherapy and again underwent the full treatment with no break. This year Kevin and Kerry have enjoyed many breaks away, including one with his mum Laura and step dad Roy to France in September 2014.

Unfortunately whilst Kevin was away he started to experience neck pain and when he returned it was confirmed the tumour had again returned. Due to Kevin only recently having an operation he was unable to have another one so soon. In November 2014 Kevin had two weeks of additional radiotherapy.

Now, Kevin has started treatment with a drug called Avastin. It can help prolong Kevin’s life significantly and is used worldwide, in particular America and Canada. It has been proven in some cases to reduce the tumour size and will give Kevin a great quality of life and ever more precious time with his family. The only problem is Avastin is not funded by the NHS and without using Avastin there is no further treatment that can be given.

Avastin costs £1,000 a week and we have started this fund raise at     £22,000 but the cost is ongoing and with your help and generosity we can raise this amount to help continue with Kevin’s treatment.

Please help to raise the money for Kevin’s treatment of Avastin by donating. Lots of Love, Kevin’s family. Thank you xxx
