 ROME, NY
I was just suddenly diagnosed with having a brain mass in my left temporal lobe after having frequent new onset seizures. The neurosurgery team at Upstate University was able to remove the mass after performing brain surgery. The neurosurgeon thinks that the mass is a malignant tumor, however we are waiting for the final results from the pathology. If it is cancer, chemo and radiation will be the next steps. With this my medical bills are large and continuing to grow, on top of our normal expenses. I was the sole income for my family and we are expecting our second son, Rocco, in less than a month. This is a very hard time for us since I won't be able to work for the near future and possibly beyond. I've always tried to help those in need and anything that anyone could or would want to contribute would be so greatly appreciated.

So far Kevin is tolerating the chemo well. It will get increased in dosage again though. His last MRI was in April and the tumor was still gone. The next one is in July. His daily fight is mainly within his head. He struggles with seizures and due to the location of the tumor, his emotions play a major role in that. However, considering what he has been diagnosed with he has so far a favorable condition. The key now is to keep it that way, which is the hardest and near impossible part.

Round 2!
An update! Kevin's first post surgery/radiation/chemo MRI came back stable last week! Great news. Now he will continue chemo every 5 days out of every 28, along with wearing the Optune Cap. This cap has to be worn for at least 18 hrs a day for 18 months. It's used to prevent the division of cancer cells that are remaining in his brain. He will continue to get MRI's every 3 months to monitor any growth.

Chemotherapy starts up again next week. Kevin will be taking the pill every 5 days out of every 28. So 5 days on, 23 days off. Plus he will be wearing a new device that is supposed to prevent tumor growth. It's called the optune cap. He had his first MRI scan post surgery and the whole where the tumor was is still empty! So great news! Just have to keep it that way now. Next scan in 3 months.
