July 23rd, 2017 Kevin Gidley was involved in a very serious car accident. Kevin was rushed to Bolingbrook hospital unconscious and with head trauma. The doctors seemed to give up but Gio (fiancee) and Trina(Kevin's mom) begged to see him. They began talking to Kevin and he started moving his arms and legs for them. This could have been a tragedy but has turned to a miracle as Kevin is with us and fighting hard to recover. With Kevin's injuries and his sign's of will to fight he was moved to a better equipped hospital. Kevin incurred multiple injuries, serious and extensive. He has had one head surgery already to help relieve the pressure on his brain. The length of his hospitalization is currently unknown. Upon future release from hospital care, Kevin will spend significant time in a rehabilitation center.

Kevin is many things. He is a son, a brother, a friend, a fiance and a new father to 10 month old Kaiden. Those who know Kevin would say that he is a kind man who would do anything for anyone. Now it's our turn to help him. This GoFundMe campaign is being set up to help with the very costly medical expenses and to cover Gio's loss of wages, as she takes time to be with Kevin and family during hospitalization and rehabilitation periods. All donations no matter the size will be greatly appreciated. Please give what you can and share this fundraiser with everyone on your Facebook, contact and email list's. The more people who see this the more help Kevin and his family will receive. Please as you read this say a little prayer because this road is long and we only have just begun. God bless and positive thoughts! Thank you.

Kevin about 2 weeks ago was moved to a state of the art facility for rehabilitation. In the two weeks that he has been there he has talked ( in a whisper), walked and played catch with his son. The improvrments are amazing. The prayers have worked. Kevin is recovering. His journey is still going and so is his recovery. Thank you to everyone that has helped. Kevin will eventually go home but his rehab won't stop. We still ask for your postive thoughts and prayers. If you can make a monetary donation thank you as it will still be needed to help in recovery. God bless all. Thank you.

I wanted to give an update on Kevin that I think all will enjoy. In the 18 days that Kevin has been in ICU he has made spectacular strides to get well. The first few days were a lot of unknowns but it seemed that everyday also brought a step in a new direction. Here is a rundown on the last 18 days.

Kevin started on full support ventilation then moved to CPAP (back and forth a few times). His next step was a trachea being put in with the ventilator. Kevin has since moved up to the trachea with oxygen but as of yesterday 8/09/17 he is fully breathing on his own.
The next milestones were one’s that made our hearts sing! The movements started ever so slightly. A hand raises here and leg kicks there but then came squeezing of a hand. Over the next day’s Kevin started to make his own connections. He would raise his eyebrows and even frown a little when people would talk to him. Kevin also started to do the commands that the doctors were asking of him from squeezing hands, raising his thumbs and even a wave! I think the best connection was last night 8/9/17 and this morning 8/10/17. Kevin is trying to open his eyes and has been opening really wide sometimes and was asked if he could see but shook his head no. Gio (fiancée) was having a moment with him and put her nose to his and Kevin puckered up for a kiss and you could hear his lips smack. Then Gio asked for another kiss and he puckers up again!!! Then this morning Kevin had his eye’s semi opened and was asked if he could see a little better and he nodded. Gio sat directly in front of him so that Kevin could focus and she smiled and said “I miss you” and immediately Kevin mouths “I miss you too”. Now no voice yet but it was communication.

Prayers are being answered every day for Kevin. We are so proud of all these improvement and milestone’s that he is reaching. Kevin will hopefully be moved to a rehabilitation center soon so that he can get the care he needs for his future. We still don’t know what the future holds but we do know that God is giving Kevin the strength he needs to get well. Thank you to all who have supported Kevin and his family and to all who will support him in the future.
