Kerala is in need of HELP.

Kerala is reeling from one of the worst flooding disasters in its history.

Kerala Chief Minister announced, that the worst floods Kerala has seen in decades has cost 357 lives and destroyed 26,000 homes. The state is bearing losses to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore. The water sector is looking at losses over Rs 900 crore, while losses in the power sector are valued at Rs 750 crore. Shops and establishments have been washed away.

He also said that crops over 40,000 crore hectares have been lost along with 2 lakh poultry and 46,000 milch animals. Roads, bridges and telephone lines have been damaged due to the floods and the 535 landslides that took place in the state.

Red Alert sounded in all 14 districts of the state, Hilly districts Wayanad and Idukky have been cut-off from the rest of the state due to landslides on the ghat roads.

Shutters of 33 Dams (of 39 )have been opened. 41 Rivers (out of 44) are overflowing well past the red mark. Cochin International Airport has been closed as the runway has been engulfed.

Your favorite summer destination, the lush green Munnar has been submerged. KSRTC and Railway have canceled many of the bus and train services.

Hundreds of houses and establishments across the state have been submerged already. Roads and bridges are either broken or swallowed up by the flood water.

Nearly Ten thousand people were shifted to rehabilitation camps. Hundreds of people left their hard earned properties and life's savings and took refuge at safer places with their relatives.

We salute all the kind-hearted people who extended love and support. Vishnu, a migrant worker from Maharashtra making a living by selling blankets in Kerala, walked into a relief camp and handed over all the fifty blankets he had. We bow our head and salute him. He is one among the many who have extended their help towards Kerala at this crucial time. So far, the loss is estimated as 8000 Cr (till yesterday 08/14).
