Kerala is our home state situated to the southern tip of the Indian peninsula.

The state is now battling with the most devastating monsoon floods in almost a century. The death toll has reached 324 and nearly 314,000 are left homeless as on 18/08/2018. Rescue operations underway as people are being airlifted from their submerged homes.

This is an unashamed cadge for contribution towards rescue and rehabilitation operations for the less fortunate. This campaign is a humble attempt by a group of friends (Devika Muraleedharan, Manju Nair, Preetha Nirmala,  Sreedish C D and Sreedev CD)

No contribution is too small. Every drop counts in this ocean of misery.

Organiser (Preetha Nirmala) is committing to an equivalent contribution (up to a maximum of £1000) to match up what gets collected through this endeavour. Contributions to this campaign will be donated to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund or a trusted local charity.

Please refer to the link below if you prefer direct contribution to the fund.

Hope you can help in someway. Thanks in advance for your generosity.

A small update to all kind hearted Samaritans who have been a part of this fundraiser..

Happy to let you know that every pound that we have raised here is now being spent on making a positive difference on a lot many less fortunate families back in Kerala by helping them rebuild their homes and enabling means of livelihood :-)

These activities are being carried out via trusted hands in worst flood-affected areas - Paravur and Chengannur.

- A five member family whose house was fully damaged is now provided with financial assistance for restoration and rehabilitation so as to enable them to get back to their house from the temporary relief shelter. The flood had hit the daily wage labourer’s house so much so that it resembled a battlefield whilst the family already was going through a tough phase with their school going daughter being disabled due to paraplegia.
- A four member family with a meagre monthly income of £50 and with currently no house to back to is provided assistance to rebuild their own house as they completely lost their house in floods. The deluge was almost the last nail in the coffin as they were still recovering from the bereavement of the husband a few months prior to the flood attack. The funds provided along with some Government aid is going to now get utilised for rebuilding their house so that they could get back to their own.
- Provided funds to buy sewing machines for a number of women in Paravur area so that they can earn livelihood through tailoring and thus empower them to rebuild their lives.

A massive thank you to one and all. Truly humbled by the way our friends in Scotland have supported and encouraged this endeavour which we started off with a small target of £1,000 and closed off at £5,547 !!

Signing off with gratitude,

The team :-)
