Kenya Volunteer Service Trip

Hello everyone! :)

My name is a Eric and I am a 2nd year electrical engineering technology student (specifying in sustainable energy) at the New Brunswick Community College, in Moncton. In March of 2018, I will be headed to Kenya on a volunteer service trip in thanks to a partnership between ME to WE and NBCC.

Let me tell you a little about ME to WE. They are a Canadian company with a vision to empower people to transform local and global communities. In addition to the sale of consumer goods that help us do good in the world through our everyday choices, they have been hosting volunteer service trips since 2002. These trips not only allow people to get out and experience our world but allow travelers to connect with communities through service work.
Service work done through ME to WE is focused on 5 pillars - Education, Water, Health, Food, or Opportunity. The volunteer work is driven by the community being visited and their needs. Travelers work alongside locals to help better the community and provide much-needed services to those without.

I am so incredibly excited to have this opportunity.  Unfortunately in the past, I never had the opportunity to do volunteer work when I visited Africa, so I'm truly looking forward to being able to help out. It'll be an amazing opportunity to truly gain a deeper perspective of the world we live in. I try to help out as much as I can, and when the school announced this trip, I just knew that I had to attempt fundraising for it.

As the trip is still some time away, we do not have information on the exact community or work we will be doing, but ME to WE is in talks with local governments at this time to find out where we will be most needed. Fellow students and I embarking on this journey will be spending the next 4 months fundraising both individually and through community events to connect New Brunswick with Kenya and do a little good in this world.

Also by networking with people in Kenya, it would open many doors for me in the future. I could potentially return and use my trade to help educate their communities on the use of sustainable energy devices.

So to my friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, or those who are looking for an opportunity to give back, I ask for your help in getting to Kenya. I am looking to raise approx. $5000 which would cover the cost of my trip (airfare, accommodations, transfers, food), immunizations, visa, and insurance.

I am going to give it my all to the locals in Kenya. It would mean the world to me if you could help me do this.

Thank you sooooo much!
