Caring for Kenny

Donation protected

Kenny is a nine year old amazing young man. There are no words to describe how amazing he is. He has always been such a stoic and gentle young man. He is kind and considerate beyond his years. He works hard in school and at home. He enjoys life and always stops to smell the roses. He is a magical human being. Every person he meets he touches in a very profound way. His only complaint ever in his nine years on this earth was an occasional headache. These headaches became more frequent and worse as time went on. After a summer of about four headaches a week Kennys family decided to see the doctor. The doctor suggested that they get an MRI. September 24, 2014 Kenny and his family  went for his MRI and two hours later the hospital called them with directions to go straight to Connecticut children's hospital in Hartford. Kenny had a mass on his brain. Kenny was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma. This is a tumor that sits on your pituitary stock, optic nerve, and hypothalamus. Kenny had surgery on Monday, September 29 to resect the tumor. They were unable to get all of the tumor out due to safety reasons. Though Kenny has recovered amazinlgy from the first surgery the families next step is to Boston Massachusetts General Children's hospital to do a six week stint of proton radiation therapy. This is not something that the family could see coming at all. First the tumor was a complete shock and now their world has been turned upside down in more ways than one. It is an unbelievable thing to watch such a vibrant young man go through something so horrifically challenging. Not only to watch his challenges but to watch him succeed and find the positive in every day. As a family they are using the motto positive attracts positive. This mantra is helping them emotionally get through this difficult time. Unfortunately Life can't stop when you're diagnosed with a tumor. It feels like it does, but bills keep coming and the world keeps revolving around you even though you feel as though you're in a blurry alter reality. They want so much to spend every single moment that they can with Kenny. They want to be there to hold his hand as he goes through this next phase of treatment. They are very far away from Massachusetts, living in Eastford Connecticut. They are also a below middle-class struggling family to begin with. So these added expenses and trips and medical bills are beginning to weigh on the family greatly.  Kenny's parents are taking turns, going to work, so that they can spend as much time with their son as possible. He needs love and support and his family all together at this time including both parents. Selfishly, it is so hard to drive out of the driveway knowing that their sick child is laying in his bed who wants his mother home. Catie, Kenny's mom is an amazing friend and self-employed actually a care-taker for very sick people about to enter the next stage of their lives. Because Catie is self-employed and needs to be at her sons side, and also be their for her daughter Emma who is also going through this difficult time she can no longer work. The road has just gotten a lot bumpier since the news of having to live in Boston for six weeks. The family will be their for Christmas as well. My goal is to do as much fundraising as possible so Catie and Ken Sr.  will be able to take care of Kenny their sick child, Emma who needs just as much support.  I am asking everyone please help Catie and Ken Sr. to be able to hold Kenny's hand through this next course of treatment. It would be an amazing gift to be able to be present as they enter this next phase of treatment and not be pulled back to their reality that they might be losing everything. Gofundme.com has so many inspiring stories so I am hoping I can inspire you to this wonderful loving family. The Botting family  can't imagine being anywhere else but by their son and daughters side. It would be such an amazing gift to be able to do that with a little less worry. I thank you so much for reading about us and sending positive energy into our universe. Every little bit counts for sure.
