Ken Schwake, a full time firefighter for Marble Falls Fire Rescue and a volunteer firefighter for Granite Shoals & Marble Falls, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor known as Acoustic Neuroma.

In late July Ken was working a grass fire for our community when he began to have stroke like symptoms. Ken was taken to the local ER and later diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Ken under went surgery August 2, 2018 which consisted of a 13 hour brain surgery and 7 days in ICU. Ken and his wife Michelle, a Paramedic at Marble Falls Area EMS, are both very dedicated to Marble Falls and our surrounding areas. They both love what they do and have put many years into helping our community. Now its time for us to help them. Ken does have insurance, and they will be paying for a big portion of his surgery and ICU stay, however, with such an invasive procedure this will leave a huge financial burden on him and his family. Ken is looking to be out of full time work for several months. He is very eager to get back on the fire truck and continue helping his community.

Ken is back home with his wife, resting and working hard to get back to doing daily routines. He is making great progress but faces a long road ahead. Ken will have many trips to Temple to continue his healing process.  Donations made will help with his medical bills and ongoing treatments.

Thank you for all efforts made in helping us stay a strong community!
